HPS/MAG Annual Garden Tour
Historic Bethlehem, PA
The tour will start at Noon with a visit to garden writer Nancy Ondra's delightful garden in Pennsburg and end with a reception at the garden of Kay and Herb Johns at their nursery, Point Philip Perennials, in Danielsville.
In between, we will stop in Historic Bethlehem and the Colonial Industrial Area. Bethlehem's historic district (with many Moravian buildings from the 1740s) will include: the Miller's House Garden patterned on a Germanic four-square plot, circa 1870, that includes Colonial to Victorian-era plants, old-time roses, and a kitchen garden; the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts garden; the Garden of Serenity (a Japanese garden complete with teahouse); and the Sculpture Garden. We will also visit 2 private
gardens in the historic district at the homes of Ron and Priscilla Brown
and Ralph and Shirley Lindgren.
Leaving Bethlehem, we'll have a short shop at the Governor Wolf Historical Society south of Bath to see the Herb and Pleasure Garden, with an espalier apple fence surrounding the garden, then on to the reception.
This self-directed tour is free. Members Only. RSVP required. Membership forms will be available for anyone wishing to join that day.
