Virginia Garden Tour

Join us May 16-20, 2022 when we resume our Domestic Garden Tours.  We will be exploring private and public gardens in Virginia.  We will spend two nights at the Spring Hill Suites in Virginia Beach.  Our hotel will be directly on the beach and all the rooms have a private balcony overlooking the ocean.  Perfect for a morning sunrise.

In Virginia Beach we will tour the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.  A tour of the gardens and a boat tour exploring the bird life around the gardens has been organized.  Also we will visit private gardens in and around Virginia Beach.

From Virginia Beach we will stay at the Embassy Suites in Richmond.  From there we will visit private gardens, make a visit to Brent and Becky’s bulbs and a tour of the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.

A garden trip wouldn’t be complete without a stop for shopping.  We will stop at Rare and Unusual Perennials in Mechanicsville, VA on our way home.

The cost of this trip is $950 per person for double occupancy; $1310 per person for single occupancy.  The cost includes round trip transportation via motor coach, all hotel accommodations, all breakfasts, first day wine & cheese social, all lunches, garden admissions and tours, bus driver’s tip, and any miscellaneous expenses.  You will be responsible for all dinners, anything you charge to your room, plant shopping.

Greater Hartford Garden Trip

About Our Trips

One of our most popular offerings are guided tours of exceptional gardens in in the US, Canada, Europe and beyond.  In North America we have traveled up and down the East Coast, from Montreal to Charleston, and west to Ohio. Overseas we have traveled often to the UK, and also to Belgium, France, Italy and Morocco.

Click here to see some of our previous destinations.

Tours are planned and led by HPS/MAG tour coordinators, with emphasis on visiting unique private gardens that are not generally accessible to US travelers. The tour package typically includes double accommodations, motor coach and guide, entrance fees, tour gratuities, many meals, and often a wine and cheese reception on the first night. Travelers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the starting point of the tour, some meals, travel insurance and incidentals.

When travelling outside the US, we partner with well known travel agencies who specialize in garden tours, such as Brightwater Tours, and Susan Worner Tours, and we are frequently accompanied by a horticulturalist who is knowledgeable of local plants.

Tours are open exclusively to HPS/MAG members; non-members who would like to travel with us are welcome to join HPS and sign up! Many trips fill quickly; watch the newsletter and website for sign up dates.
