"Red Wigglers - Indoor Composters"

Speaker: Trish Verbeyst

Our speaker has been composting with worms since a chance encounter with Ranger Rick (true story) from the Stony Brook Watershed who gave a demonstration about worm composting and provided her with her very own composting worms. This was in 2003. To date, Trish has divided her worms and shared them with over 20 indoor composters as a way of spreading worm composting to others in the community.

In this program, you will learn the basics of vermicomposting (composting with worms), how and why you might try this at home, and ways to keep your worms healthy and happy.

Trish Verbeyst (pronounced Verb-eye-st) has been a Rutgers Mercer County Master Gardener since 1998. Trish is past Chair of both the Children's Bureau and Outreach Committees with the Master Gardener program. Within these committees, she was able to share her passion for worm composting with children and adults alike.
