Guided Tour at Morris Arboretum & Gardens: The Wetlands – A Unique Ecosystem
The guided tours at the Morris offered by HPS/MAG since January 2022 have been popular events with our members. A special collaboration with the Morris Arboretum & Gardens allows us to offer docent-guided tours throughout the year focused on specialty topics not often offered.
The Wetlands: A Unique Ecosystem tour investigates many native plants and trees around the pond and near the Wissahickon Creek. This specialty tour includes a brief history of the Wetlands and describes the nature of a wetland ecosystem. The Wetlands offer both the beauty and ruggedness created in this environment. These Wetlands provide important resources – water, food, shelter – vital for plants, trees and wildlife. Many native trees and shrubs surround the pond to create an abundant, native habitat.
This tour is off-path, and visitors are advised to wear walking or hiking shoes. The tour begins in the parking lot to the left of the entrance kiosk.
The arboretum’s hours are 10 AM - 4 PM. Tour attendees may arrive early or stay after the tour to further explore the arboretum. Those staying after the tour to visit the other sections of the arboretum and gardens may drive up the hill to the parking lot by the Visitors’ Center. The gift shop and restrooms will be open.
This is a Members Only event and is limited to 15 participants. Registration is required. $10 per attendee.
Registration is open, click here. Registration closes October 8, 2024.
