Visit 2021 Grant Recipient:  Bondsville Mill Park

Join us for a Members Only visit to 2021 Grant recipient, Bondsville Mill Park in Downingtown, PA. The event will be from 10:00 am to ~ 11:30 am, or later if you stay to enjoy the park. Rain Date September 30th from 10:00 am to ~ 11:30 am or later.

The visit is limited to 20 members. Cost is $ 5.00 per person. Registration and online payment is required. Click here to register. Registration closes on September 25th.

Plan to arrive at 10:00 am for an informal walk to enjoy the gardens in the historic park followed by a ‘garden chat’ with David Culp.  David will speak to us at the Race Walk garden, recently established with the support of HPS/MAG grant funding, to demonstrate that the use of native species in functional spaces can be sustainable, beautiful and beneficial to wildlife.  David will also discuss his design for the planned garden in ‘Culp’s Clearing’ including a list of the plants to be installed there.

HPS/MAG will be the 1st official garden visitors to the Race Walk.

Of Special Interest:

• The Race Walk Garden is handicap accessible.  A slide show describing the Mill’s history and plans for it’s future will be available in the handicap accessible Visitor Center.  Water/iced tea/lemonade and dessert will be provided.

• If Monarch Butterflies are in the area, we are invited to observe the Monarch tag and release program, usually held daily at 11:30.

• We are invited to bring and enjoy a picnic and explore the hiking trails after our planned activities.

HPS/MAG COVID-19 PRACTICES AND POLICIES: All HPS/MAG In-Person Events are subject to current CDC COVID-19 guidelines (vaccinated people may need masks indoors) and garden host preferences (A mask may still be required on their property). Please bring a mask for every In-Person Event.

Additionally, every non-vaccinated attendee must sign a Coronavirus Waiver prior to attending any In-Person Event. Click here for the waiver. If possible, please download a copy of the waiver, sign it and bring it with you to the event. The event coordinator will have extra copies available for registrants that need them. The waiver will be collected at the event.
