"The Cutting Garden "

Speaker: Suzanne Penn

What is a cutting garden and why might you want one?

If you enjoy having fresh flowers in your home and making bouquets for friends then consider creating a place in your garden that is dedicated to growing flowers for cutting. In a small space you can produce a bounty of flowers to enjoy and share.

This lecture will teach you:

-Site selection and preparation of an area dedicated to flowers and foliage for cutting
-What attributes make a good cut flower
-Growing things from seed, what to sow indoors and what to direct sow
-Employing supports and staking methods to produce long straight stems
-How to harvest, condition and extend the vase life of your flowers

"Tuesdays at 10" is a free Members-Only Educational Series of Virtual Lectures. Registration is required for each session. This event will be recorded and available to watch for just 2 weeks following the lecture. Maximum number of attendees is 100.

Registration is closed.

Important Info regarding registration: Please make sure you hit the "Submit" button after registering on-line. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, then the registration process was not completed.

Suzanne Penn is a self taught gardener who tries to make the most of her city garden, and with her team of fellow volunteers, takes care of the public library garden in her neighborhood. Now retired from the Philadelphia Museum of Art where she was the Conservator of Modern and Contemporary Paintings, she has even more time to spend outdoors. Her gardening is informed by her keen interest in art, art history and science.
