An All-Things-Dahlia Day – Learn/Dine/Design at Delightful Dahlias in Bethlehem, PA
Treat yourself to a delightful, dahlia-filled day. The Moser family cares for 5 dahlia gardens totaling 1.5 acres and grows over 250 varieties of dahlias. We begin with an introduction to the sixth-generation dahlia farm by owner Shirlene Moser. We will enjoy a walking tour of the farm which celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2023.
After our tour, we will be treated to a luncheon of salads, fruit, yogurt, homemade desserts, and non-alcoholic beverages. If you would like a more substantial lunch, please bring your own additional item(s). Over lunch, Shirlene will introduce us to the science and history of growing dahlias.
After lunch we will cut and gather bloom stems and make our own arrangements (typically 30-50 flower stems). You’ll also have a selection of vases and greens to work with. You are welcome to bring your own vase. If you prefer to take your stems home with you, bring a bucket that will travel well with water. Shirlene will demonstrate her tips and tricks for arranging dahlias and assist you with making your own arrangement.
Each spring Shirlene sells tubers for many of the dahlias you will see on our tour. You can place your tuber order while at the farm and return to pick them up in the spring after the last frost date. The cost is $5 for a bag of 5 sprouted tubers. With each order of 5 bags, you get 1 bag free. Pay by cash or check when you pick-up your order. Shirlene will call you when your order is ready for pick-up
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and casual clothing.
