Soft landings are diverse native plantings u nder keystone trees (or any other regionally appropriate native trees). The se plantings provide critical shelter and habitat for one or more life cycl e stages of moths, butterflies, and beneficial insects such as bumble bees, fireflies, lacewings, and beetles. In addition to plants, soft landings al so include leaf litter, duff, and plant debris. Learn about the critical im portance of soft landings and how to incorporate more of these types of pla ntings into your own landscape.
Leslie Pilgrim is a conservation gar dener, writer, artist, market researcher, businessperson, founder of Neighb orhood Greening, editor of the publications The Butterfly Effect, Wild Ones Reflections, and Life in the Anthropocene, and the former co-president of Wild Ones Twin Cities. She is an involved community member with a deep pass ion for helping rescue our rapidly deteriorating environment. In addition t o an accounting degree and an MBA, Leslie has a certificate in ecological r estoration and a Watershed Technician certification, both from the Universi ty of Minnesota. She is also currently working her way through the Native P lant Trust's Native Plant Certification Program.
"Tuesdays a t 10" is a free Members-Only Educational Series of Virtual Lectures. Regist ration is required for each session. These events will be recorded and avai lable to watch for just 2 weeks following the lecture.
