Since 2009, the HPS Grants Program has awarded grants annually to individuals, community groups, schools, and other organizations in the mid-Atlantic region (DE, MD, PA, NJ, NY, and VA), who are working to promote the love of horticulture, benefit the environment, and expand sound horticultural education and awareness throughout the community. One of our major goals has been to broaden our Grants program by increasing available funds, as well as the number and nature of the grantees. The last several years have been very encouraging. As the program has evolved, the budget has grown to support this initiative. In 2025, we were able to award grants to 23 diverse organizations. Understanding the importance of ongoing support to local garden communities, the HPS Board continues to support the increased budget for 2026. In an effort to determine how best to distribute budgeted funds to meet our goals, the Grants Committee annually refines our application evaluation process. In 2020, we introduced a rigorous grading system to enable the Grants Committee to consistently evaluate each grant application and distribute grant funding for maximum benefit. As the HPS Grants Program develops, we continue to fine tune our criteria and process to better support the evaluation and selection of our grant recipients. How You Can Help:
