Making Stormwater Come Alive
Speaker: Lucy Dinsmore

The Event:

Grading and piping may not get you excited, but plants probably do. They are the reason green stormwater infrastructure works, and the plant palette is expansive. This talk will look at inspiration from public gardens and private spaces and also show real-life solutions to landscape problems. With extreme storm events on the rise, we can manage the effects with functional gardens. Let's rethink our gardens and dig deeper—literally, dig into the land to make space for water.

This event is a partnership sponsored by Haverford College Arboretum, Hardy Plant Society/Mid-Atlantic Group, and Henry Botanic Garden. At 2:00 p.m. there will be a free campus tour given by Haverford College Arboretum horticulturists featuring our rain gardens. The lecture will take place in Sharpless Hall at Haverford College Arboretum and will be accompanied by light refreshments.

When:                     Sunday, September 14 at 3:00 pm

(Optional Arboretum tour at 2:00 pm, given by Haverford College Arboretum horticulturists. Free. Meet at the lecture hall.)
