Susan’s Summer Garden in Wyndmoor

Take a morning stroll through a delightful garden in its summer glory. Susan shared with us a bit about herself and her garden, and some photos – definitely a must-see garden!.

My garden has been developed over the past 25 years since we moved to the house in 1998. I worked as the Director of Marketing for the Morris Arboretum for 16 years until I retired in 2021. At Morris, I was lucky enough to have access to some of the best horticulturists in the area. I knew very little about gardening when I started but made up for my lack of knowledge with a love of being surrounded by plants and beauty.

Many of the plants in the garden came from Morris Arboretum’s annual plant sale, comprising an eclectic mix. I love color and try to plant for color in all the growing seasons. With so many established mature trees, full sun is always a challenge. I try to have plants that are good for pollinators. My husband, our Italian Water Dog and I spend a lot of time in the garden during extended summer months, at the pool, and dining/entertaining alfresco whenever the weather permits. The garden is one of my greatest joys, and since retiring I’ve done much of the work myself. It can be overwhelming, but it’s worth it.
