A Foray into Fungi Finding – Mushroom Foraging with the Philadelphia Mycology Club

Kevin Popowich of the Philadelphia Mycology Club will lead the way teaching participants how to forage for mushrooms while discussing fungal anatomy, key identifying features, and their ecological significance. This presentation aims to inspire folks to reimagine their favorite green spaces and hiking trails through the lens of mushrooms. We'll also discuss how to make quality mushroom observations during your future journeys. This class is intended for beginners to experienced foragers and will include a general introduction to the fungal kingdom and identification information on specimens found.

The Philadelphia Mycology Club is a 100% volunteer-run organization. They run walks and talks all over the area and offer guidance where there is interest.

Your tour guide, Kevin Popowich, is an Ecological Risk Assessor who is passionate about connecting curious minds to fungi. He enjoys expanding the club's mycelial network by fostering a welcoming community while promoting fungal conservation and biodiversity. Check out Kevin’s iNaturalist Profile.
