A Tour of Calder Gardens with Erin Monda

Calder Gardens is Philadelphia’s newest art institution dedicated to Alexander Calder and is conceived as a place where an evolving interplay between art, architecture, nature, and programming encourages contemplation and self-discovery. Join Erin Monda for a tour and exploration of the gardens designed by Piet Oudolf. Learn about Oudolf’s design, plant highlights and combinations, the construction process, and management of the garden.

Erin Monda is the Horticulture Manager at Calder Gardens, overseeing all aspects of the landscape. Erin introduced us to Calder Gardens in her January 20th presentation to HPS/MAG – part of this year’s virtual lecture series. Whether or not you were able to attend her lecture, this is a wonderful opportunity to visit the maturing gardens in person.

Erin Monda will lead a tour that is entirely outside and about the gardens. The tour is about 45-60 minutes. Attendees will walk from one site entrance to the other, and Erin will answer questions at the end of the tour near the entrance to the building. The $50 per person cost for this tour includes admission to the building. After Erin’s guided tour you will be free to see the art of Alexander Calder inside the building and to further explore the gardens at your leisure. (Normal daily admission to the building is $18.)
