Ornamental Impressions and Skeletons in a Maturing Meadow GardenMeadow gardens are ever changing, with four seasons of ornamental interest. By late fall, a naturalistic meadow with ornamental grasses and wildflowers becomes stripped of vibrant colors and growth. Yet, maturing features create broad ornamental impressions, with evolving colors blending into soft palettes and subtle hues. Plus, exposed are its inner strengths of skeleton forms - stark dense plant shapes, forms and textures almost entirely of dead plants. Accentuated by light and movement, uniquely inviting. Discover and inspect this unique ornamental phase of a meadow garden. Walk around a late season meadow garden, now with its mature ornamental show of matured seed heads, stems, shoots, color shifting foliage and flower inflorescences. Plus, enjoy a symphony of brown colors. Goodly Gardens is a PHS Blue Ribbon Award-winning naturalistic home garden, as well as a Penn State Extension-certified pollinator- and watershed-friendly garden. Thom completed the Barnes Arboretum horticulture program and is a Horticulturist and Penn State Extension Master Gardener.
