Join fellow HPS members and friends for a day in rural New Jersey for a lecture, garden tour, shopping and homemade luncheon. Located in the picturesque mountains of Warren County, NJ, Well-Sweep is a family farm and home to one of the largest collections of herbs and perennials in the country. Germinating from the seed of a handed-down tradition and hobby – to a business that has flourished, with 2019 marking their 50th year. Raising and breeding plants from around the globe, from Acanthus to Zatar, their selections span the familiar, the unusual, the rare and the exotic. This season they are introducing 104 intriguing new plants to their collection of more than 1,898 varieties. Whether you’re a collector, designer, dabbler or windowsill gardener … Well-Sweep hopes to arouse the curiosity of you all! The Farm features a vast collection of herbs and perennials in display gardens along with a gift shop, plant nursery and farm animals. 

Members and non-members welcome. Cost is $40 per person members and $50 non-members. Maximum 24 attendees, minimum 20.

The day includes:

Garden Tour and Tea Time
Join Patrick McDuffee on a short but informative tour of Well-Sweep's formal herb garden. He will cut his favorite herbs fresh from the garden for a delicious cup of tea as he goes over their history, lore and medicinal aspects. As we sit down to enjoy, learn how to brew the perfect cup of herbal tea.

Lecture: The Mediterranean Window – Citrus, Figs & More
Join David Hyde avid plant enthusiast, noted lecturer and owner of Well-Sweep Herb Farm’s family business for a lecture on a variety of Mediterranean fruit; Citrus, Figs, Olives, Pomegranates and more. Learn how to care for these exotic beauties for year-round success – fill your patio and windows with unusual and delicious fruit.

Luncheon - A delicious, homemade, herb-infused luncheon is included. Make your choices at the time of registration.

Please arrive promptly at 9:45 as this is a time sensitive program. 

There will be plenty of time to shop, be sure to have space in your cars.

                                    

HPS/MAG COVID-19 PRACTICES AND POLICIES: All HPS/MAG In-Person Events are subject to current CDC COVID-19 measures (vaccinated people do not need masks indoors nor outdoors) and garden host preferences (A mask may still be required on their property). Please bring a mask for every In-Person Event.

Additionally, every registrant must sign a Coronavirus Waiver prior to attending any In-Person Event. Click here for the waiver. If possible, please download a copy of the waiver, sign it and bring it with you to the event. The event coordinator will have extra copies available for registrants that need them. The waiver will be collected at the event.
