"PHS - Beyond the Flower Show "

Speaker: Frederick Roland, Major Gifts Officer, PHS

An in-depth look into the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society; the historic organization responsible for putting on the annual Philadelphia Flower Show. We will explore the organizational in-reach, outreach, and PHS the business. We will also look at the ambitious goals of Vision 2027 and how PHS is looking to be the authority on the creating healthy living environments, increasing access to fresh food, expanding economic opportunity, and building meaningful social connections.

"Tuesdays at 10" is a free Members-Only Educational Series of Virtual Lectures. Registration is required for each session. Registration is closed. This event will be recorded and available to watch for just 2 weeks following the lecture. Maximum number of attendees is 100.

Frederick Roland serves as the Major Gifts Officer on the development team at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS). At PHS, Frederick is tasked with driving revenue through philanthropic engagement by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding program donors. He primarily focuses on Harvest Giving Circle constituents – additionally he offers programmatic support to the President’s Advisory Council.

Frederick received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Duke University, with a double minor in Sociology and Theater Studies. He has spent most of his fundraising career in collegiate athletics, with stops at Duke University, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Temple University. Most recently he worked with a grassroots non-profit in West Philadelphia focused on creating alternative outlets for at-risk youths and young adults. In his spare time, Frederick volunteers at a 3,500ft2 urban garden located in West Philadelphia. As a self-described chef-in-waiting, he enjoys cooking with his wife, and traveling to the tropics.

Please make sure you have Zoom installed on your computer. Plan to join 5 minutes before; there will be a 20-30 minute talk plus 15 minute Q&A. Questions can be submitted via chat box and will be read to speaker by the HPS/MAG moderator. Please note that all participants will be muted for the duration of the event.
