"Hydrangea Heaven"

A Workshop in Nina Schneider's Garden

Garden designer Nina Schneider’s garden is a delight to visit. If you joined us for our 2022 HPS Members’ Garden Tour, you had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful garden. The garden surrounds mid-century modern style house and features large hemlocks, dwarf conifers, and many unique plants. Nina’s combinations of color and other plant features, accented with perfectly placed archways, paths, Italian Impruneta planters and a fountain, make for a breathtaking garden.

Hydrangea GardenBut this year’s visit to Nina Schneider’s garden is all about hydrangeas. It seems that Nina has never met a hydrangea that she didn’t love or could live without! For any gardener and any garden, no single genus provides so much variety of form and color for the summer garden as Hydrangea. From May to October, this vast group of low maintenance shrubs is our subject of review, both native and Asian, sun and shade lovers, thirsty and drought tolerant. In this hydrangea workshop Nina will discuss siting, planting, maintenance and pruning, as well as local and online sources.
