Tour of Arader Farm –
A Guided Walking Tour of a Working Christmas Tree Farm and Tree Nursery

In 2021 the Arader’s purchased this working Christmas Tree farm located in Collegeville PA. The farm dates to the late 1700’s and the farmhouse was built circa 1802. There are 90 acres of conserved land with a 1-acre pond.

The Arader's intend to continue the family-oriented Christmas and Fall season activities. Over the past year they have planted approximately 5,000 Christmas tree seedlings and are actively growing pumpkins, corn for a corn maze, and flowers to cut for the fall season.

They have dedicated and transformed approximately 10+ acres of the farm for Arader Tree Service to grow rare conifers, shade, and ornamental trees. They have a combination of nursery and arboretum like settings where friends and customers can envision what the trees would look like in a home like setting. A few of the trees grown are specimen sized Weeping Norway Spruce, Oriental Spruce cultivars, one of the original ‘Stone Pillar’ White Pines, and a very old ‘Reirs Dwarf’ Hinoki Cypress.

The farm is lovely. There are swans that live on the pond, and it is quite common to see a grey heron, other interesting birds, foxes (and sometimes their babies), and other wildlife while visiting.

The Arader’s have been avid gardeners and lovers of trees their entire life. Chris Arader, established Arader Tree Service after graduating with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 1979. Since then, he has had the honor of servicing clients in the greater Philadelphia area.

As Chris and his wife Paige grew their Tree Service business, they dreamed of expanding their love of trees and plants. For years, Chris and Paige wondered how fun it would be to own a farm where they would be able to grow a wide variety of trees and plants. In June of 2021, their dream became a reality when they purchased the Christmas Tree farm from the Varner Family who had created a beautiful family tradition and had been growing Christmas trees since 1983. Paige and Chris envisioned that visiting Arader Farm would be an experience that entire families would enjoy.  We’re quite sure that this is an event that you too will enjoy. Join us!

John Verbrugge, a certified Arborist, also with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley University, will be providing the tour.
