Join passionate water garden enthusiasts for a tour a stunning water garden features and beautiful gardens in the Delaware Valley. In addition to ponds, fountains, rills and wetlands, stunning hardscaping, and picturesque bridges, view breathtaking plantings that enrich and enhance these features. Properties vary from jewel box quarter acres to large acreage with natural areas. Several of these gardens belong to some of the leading horticultural experts in the region. There are 2 Early Bird Gardens open between 10:00AM and 12:00PM ONLY. Between 12:00PM and 5:00 PM, there are an additional 9 gardens.

EARLY BIRD GARDENS: 10:00AM-12:00PM

Rick and Sondra's Garden

The rear of the property was built in front of a ravine and small creek, but the acre property was essentially wild and wooded. Rick terraced and cultivated the property, had a bilevel classical pond installed, and added pavers for access to the property and rear yard. Rick obtained many of the plantings from Water Garden plant swaps.

William and Sharon's Garden

Bill purchased this ¼ acre in 1978. The first project was installing a greenhouse to raise plants for the PHS Flower Show. Next came a backyard pond, later a stream, small waterfall and bog area. Still later a pond which is a summer retreat for Sharon’s red and yellow ear slider turtles was added. As the flower beds expanded the lawns and mower disappeared. 70+ year old Quercus palustris, 20 year old Sciadopitys verticillata and a Chamaecyparis obtusa, Blue Atlas Cedar, Weeping Atlas Cedar, vegetable bed, variegated Kiwi vine trained up a pergola

John and Sandi's Garden

A beautiful property with multiple indoor and outdoor ponds and water features. 8 wood sculptures carved from 6 trees, 2 pondless waterfalls, over 200 tropical plants, gazebo, and a garden gauge model train.

 
Rick and Liz' Garden

2.5-acre property slopes gently down to the Crum Creek wetland, which is accessible through the deer fence. The garden developed over 22 years is full of wonderful plants, a circular above-ground pond, and many cobalt-blue bottles and pots. The garden is mostly highly accessible, but has some patches of uneven walking.

 Kay and Lew's Garden

 Built the koi pond in 2002. Trees and plants are from Scott Arboretum sales and dividends and friends’ exchanges and gifts. 

Roger and Minnie's Garden

Front landscaping compliments the colonial style home built in 1968-1971 by Roger’s father. Natural setting of the backyard includes 2 creeks meeting to meander through the quiet property. Roger rebuilt an abandoned above ground swimming pool into a lovely garden room for entertaining. 3 waterfalls, 3 bridges, and stone lining of the creeks add to the surprises of the property.

  
Charles' Garden

Garden represents 3 generations of Cresson gardeners. Water garden created 100 years ago. Gardens full of stunning garden rooms, old growth trees and shrubs, stream and rock garden. 

 
Geoff and Alexis' Garden

A landscape architect, Geoff has designed a stunning garden around their 1928 home, nestled within traditional grassy spaces and walkways and surrounded by shrubs and perennials. ¼ acre garden with a focus on year-round interest. Gently sweeping planting beds, a vegetable garden and a small in-ground pond.

Gail and Bill's Garden

Lovely garden with pond. Eastern hemlocks, American hollies, a blue Atlas cedar and rhododendrons and azaleas. Stone walls form 2 formal gardens with yews as a green backdrop.

Stu and Carol's Garden

Small backyard pond and patio on lower level surrounded by woods. Walk around back on the lawn to view lovely gardens. For ease of access, stairs and/or elevator available through house.  

Don and Linda's Garden

Extensive upper and lower patio, streams and falls created by Don. Stunning plantings with several large specimen trees and shrubs. Extensive plantings created by Linda. Garden was a PHS “Garden of Distinction” and “Fan Favorite 2019”. In 2023 two large maples were removed, new walkways and stewartias planted. Accessible paths throughout.

Open to members and non-members. Registration is required. Cost is $5 for members, $15 for nonmembers.
