Sandra Webberking – Journey into a Sculptor’s Workshop and Garden

The nonliving components of our gardens – whether simple containers or pavers or elaborate structures – are as distinctive and memorable as the plants themselves. We select and place these items with the same attention given to the plants. During this open workshop, demo, and sculpture garden event, you’ll see how Sandy Webberking transforms metal and glass into sculpture designed to celebrate plants and gardens.

Being an avid gardener and metal sculptor, it seems natural that Sandy gravitated toward creating whimsical sculptures for the garden in which she spends so much of her free time. She values the process of finding objects, listening to their story, and reincarnating them into the creatures they will become.Nature is a profound source of inspiration to Sandy and her work. She is especially inspired by the wonderful rhythm and lines of trees and their branches –they are purposeful with the space they take up.

Sandy believes in preserving our natural resources and for this reason she recycles whenever possible – including propane tanks, glass insulators and bottle stoppers. We live in such a disposable age and as a reaction to that she is trying to show that reusing is not only environmentally friendly, but it is also fun. Often, finding the objects is as much fun as making the piece.

See Sandy’s website, Facebook and Instagram for more. Pieces will be available for purchase at this event. Sandy accepts cash, credit cards and checks.
