Visit to a Plant Collector’s Garden

Prepare to find yourself repeatedly saying “Wow! What’s that?” when you join us for a visit to this Chester County property. This is a great opportunity to see what’s growing in the private garden of a plant breeder/horticulturist/botanical explorer.

Started in 2015, this is a plant collector’s garden containing over 1500 different types of plants, with special attention to species of known provenance obtained through botanical field work, seed collections, and specialty nurseries. Plant groups of focus include geophytes (bulbs and their relatives), unusual native plants, Trilliums, Arisaema, bog garden plants, choice woody plants, and many more. The collections are housed in a variety of garden settings including woodland, bog, and crevice gardens, and a small alpine house containing 500 types of potted bulbs.

Our host will have a potted plant of Phlox amplifolia ‘Wild Turkey’ for everyone to take home. A few unique plants will be for sale. Please bring cash or check.

All attendees will also receive a ticket for entrance to Longwood Gardens!

This event is for members only. Registration is required. The cost is $15. Maximum number of guests is 15. A wait list will be created if needed.

This event is completely sold out.

Bring an umbrella if there’s light rain. In the event of heavy rain, the pop-up will be held on Saturday, May 4th.

Note: Wear comfortable shoes. The yard is on a slope, but the ground surface is even and very walkable.

Address and parking directions will be sent to all registrants in their confirmation email.
