Richard Hawke has worked at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Illinois for 35 years. As the Manager of the Garden’s Plant Evaluation Program for the past 20 years, he is responsible for the annual comparative evaluation of approx. 1,000 taxa of perennials, shrubs, vines, and small trees, including plants for green roof gardens. Richard teaches horticultural courses for the School of the Botanic Garden, lectures widely, and has numerous publications.

Richard Hawke will share some of his research findings to help us identify “only the best” perennials to plant in our gardens. Be prepared to be educated and entertained by an expert, and to come away excited about great plants!
